Europe is saturated with internet providers.
America is saturated with them too. I live in a small town in a remote area and I have access to five ISP's (all lousy)! I'd dump them in an instant for cable internet.

The real questions are more on the lines of:
1) how many people are wired for cable TV?
2) Will the cable operators work with an American company?
3) Are the cable operators technically advanced enough to offer internet service (with help of course)?
4) how dedicated are users to their current ISP's
(and e-mail address)? Any who have well liked content?
5) What % of homes have internet access?
6) What % have computers?
7) How many hours online would it take before flat fee was cheaper than per minute charges?

etc...

AND: What will be the answer to all these questions in 2002?

*More* questions:
1) Do cable operators in Europe have the finances to do HFC upgrades?
2) Are cable operators in Europe regulated monopolies as they are in the US?
