Was I impressed? Was I comforted? I think more comforted than impressed. After all, there were no big announcements (aside from the new CEO) or anything else that jumped out and grabbed you. But they did a good job smoothly telling their story. While I didn't watch the slide show over the web, at least one analyst seemed to like it. I think they did a fair job of presenting the company, the sector of the streaming media arena that they are playing in and how they are the leader in that field.

Sharfman did a good job presenting the story and described the products so that they could be understood. But I thought that Greene's description of what Digital Lava does as being akin to an enhanced Bloomberg terminal was *inspired*, since financial types have those things on their desks and hopefully now can better relate to what Digital Lava does--one of the problems with DGV's stuff is that it isn't easy for people to understand what it's all about. Both Sharfman and Greene I think helped clarify that, hopefully to the point where it is understood better by the analysts.

Greene's mention of some big announcements to come in coming months is nice to hear, since this is an official statement and not some sort of rumor (though perhaps it corroborates some of the rumors). Sharfman seemed to know some of the analysts from before and was able to answer their questions easily. Both Sharfman and Greene sounded relaxed and straightforward. All of this, of course, is comforting.

None of this, of course, means that the stock might not hit the 5's again, so I suppose there's comforting and then there's comforting. But my feeling is this: Bob Greene impressed Sharfman and the board that he is good enough to be the new CEO. I assume that there are some smart people on the board. Sharfman himself is smart, competent and level-headed and he knows what being CEO of Digital Lava is about better than anyone else. So, if Bob Greene impressed Sharfman, this would suggest to me that Greene is probably a worthy successor. The board, which is actually responsible for these decisions, and has the vote, seems to have agreed.

All I can say is, I hope that it all works out well for everyone concerned, including us :-)
