Lola there are other chips..but;

"This was posted on Stockhouse TLV board [ not by me ]... "Currently, there is no company in the world that has put in the time, effort and money into the development and commercialization of this important technology as Tri-Vision has... and it won't be long before it will become an everyday technology, in all homes, for all children."

StockHouse: What is it about Tri-Vision's v-chip technology that is unique?

Najmul Siddiqui: Many companies seem to have noted at one time or another that they have the v-chip. But the v-chip technology we patented is a complete system. The key, and a unique part of the v-chip - Tri-Vision's V-gis™ v-chip, is the ability for the v-chip inside the TV or in a box attached to the TV to re-configure itself for a change in the rating system. So, if the rating system is changed, TV owners will not have to worry about this feature becoming obsolete. The same may be said about those boxes attached to TVs. Furthermore, if a TV manufacturer makes a TV in the US and ships it to Canada or Mexico, the Tri-Vision v-chip in the TV will modify itself to the rating system in the particular country once it is hooked up to any local transmission.

I feel very confident of the uniqueness and value that Tri-Vision's v-chip technology offers to TV manufacturers"

Lola here is my simplemans read on the Patent issue and links
The other systems use a primitive revamped closed caption type system that reads a code to blank out. The signal is broadcast on Feild one line 21 of the Verical Interval (THE little black bar you see when your vertical hold is out of whack)the same as closed captioning.The competition(Parental Guide and Acacia Research) systems like TVL's system detect the codes and blank it out.(Audio and Video)TVL's is the only patented ADRESSABLE system. This means that when ratings change The FCC and Clintons office are already talking about this)
only TVL's will be able to change with them. Canada's ratings or China's ratings system will be different again from USA's only TVL chip will be able to adress these changes.Here are some links. Hope this helps.
