Ari My guess is...

That a obese person's layer of skin on the sternum may not fit within the depth range that the FAST 1 is designed for. Most non-obese people's skin at that site is within a small range but if the person is really obese they may fall outside the range. This is just my opinion!!!. Maybe Dr Johnson will comment on this.
