SJS and Michael

Low volume is no friend of mine - for for ST or Day trading, anyway.

One has to be careful in interpreting the cause of the low volume. Take Christmas time for example - low volume simply due to the absence of players - ST, LT, mo-mo, everybody. Unless there are news, stocks tend to be less volatile.

But in an uncertain environment like today, low volume could mean people are simply parking most of their money at the money market fund and adopt a wait and see attitude. In this case, stocks are particularly sensitive to intra and inter-day sentiment swing and therefore a relatively low volume stock can swing wildly for that reason. But when the sentiment shifts, the temporiraly beaten down stocks become appealing and thus they move big on the upside later in the day or the next day. Take TXCC for example.

OPMR - I believe it has broken out yesterday. Could be an easy double in the next six months. You heard it here first. I am going to increase my holding in this stock becuase it has downside protection ($9) and huge upside potential - great for this environment and one can stop watching it intraday.
