Mark, I don't think anyone would deny that there has been an opportunity cost of owning this stock. I've owned it for nearly 2 years myself, and I'll be the first to admit that for those 2 years it has been dead money. If I had my druthers, I would have much rather purchased AOL or Dell 2 years ago. I wasn't that smart.

However, investing is not a zero sum game, and the fact that other stocks have performed better over the past 2 years does not invalidate the potential for VLNC. If you accept the performance attributes of their batteries, (as outlined by FMK recently), and if you accept the productive capacity of their factory in Northern Ireland, then the EPS estimates and the potential price estimates are not completely out of whack. And since the stock market does discount the future, then it is conceivable that we could see a price of $100 at some time over the next two years. Seems like a reasonable payoff to me.
