I AM AN @HOME Subscriber and received the following upgrade update information.

Comcast@Home
Service Update

posted Tuesday, June 8th, 1999
Dear Comcast@Home member:

Comcast@Home is committed to offering the best and fastest Internet service for the home to our subscribers. To meet that commitment, we are continually taking steps to improve the performance of our network. One example is the recently announced agreement with AT&T to create a new Internet backbone facility, to be available mid-1999, which increases @Home's capacity by about 100 times. This means that even as more and more people join the cable Internet revolution by subscribing to Comcast@Home, you will continue to experience the full advantage and super-fast speeds of the Internet over cable.

In addition, we are continuing to update our network as promised through our Optimized Network Advantage, or ONadvantage(SM), initiatives. With these ongoing enhancements, you will continue to enjoy the superb Internet experience and performance you've come to expect from your Comcast@Home cable Internet service. For those of you who are more technically minded, we have a white paper that describes our ONadvantage initiatives in more detail:

http://www/support/onadvantage/whitepaper/

There's no need to sign up - these enhancements automatically ensure a consistently fast, very high performance experience across our growing subscriber base. However, to allow us to put the latest ONadvantage initiatives in place, there may be a brief (no more than 2 seconds) slowness of service in some of the NJ markets tonight and tomorrow night in the late evening (midnight) or early morning.

Thanks for being a Comcast@Home member!
Sincerely,

Comcast@Home Team

What loss of Portland? Portland ain't gettin'
broadband but the rest of the world is? I don't
think so. Portland is a nonevent. That doesn't
mean that the stock hasn't suffered but the stock
suffered when the DSL hucksters had their coming
out ball. They had major press releases announcing
that high-speed twisted pair to the home WAHOOOO!
was here!!! The stock went down and life went on.
If you buy and hold you don't care that much. If
you click on the stock ticker hitting SHIFT:RELOAD
20 times a day you will drive yourself crazy.
