Jump to first matched term

SAN FRANCISCO, June 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Time Warner Cable has agreed to add nCUBE to its video server vendor program for its Pegasus video-on-demand (VOD) product. Time Warner and nCUBE have executed a Memorandum of Understanding under which Time Warner has approved nCUBE's MediaCUBE video server for tests at a Time Warner Cable system. Further terms of the MOU have not been disclosed.

"The nCUBE MediaCUBE video server will provide Time Warner with the most proven, economical and scalable video server in the industry, and will enable Time Warner's customers to rent movies without ever leaving their home" said nCUBE president Michael J. Pohl. "nCUBE is extremely excited to work with Time Warner and help introduce the future of true VOD to Time Warner customers."

Time Warner will test the newest addition to the nCUBE video sever product line, the MediaCUBE 4. The MediaCUBE 4 scales from 40 to 40,000 simultaneous 3 Mbps streams, and allows all users to access the same movie title or different movie titles with only a single copy of each title stored on the server. The MediaCUBE 4 will be demonstrated streaming video to Scientific Atlanta and General Instrument digital set-tops from June 13 -- 16 at nCUBE booth #3345, at the National Cable Television Association trade show in Chicago, IL.

Time Warner will also test nCUBE's VOD management application, which integrates the MediaCUBE server into the Scientific Atlanta Explorer 2000 set-top terminal and digital cable television environment.
