The one I am most familiar with is that it is unethical to threaten criminal actions in
order to gain an advantage in civil matters. I would consider threatening people with
the SEC as threatening at least quasi-criminal, if not criminal action. In the situations
I am thinking of, the lawyer may threaten someone who is saying things he doesn't
like about a stock he has an investment in, that if they don't shut up he is going to
turn them over to the SEC. I think that's a clear violation of legal ethics.</)
