DRDRAM may not be the short term solution, but when Intel integrates the memory controller on-chip (as I understand they have plans for), the latency problem should be solved.

The latency problem with DRAM is affected minimally by the location of the memory controller. The fundamental problem is that the precharge and page open times of all types of DRAM are inherently slow.

I agree. DRDRAM may not be the short term solution, but when Intel integrates the memory controller on-chip (as I understand they have plans for), the latency problem should be solved. I believe this would also do something to cut the costs of DRDRAM...
