"Anyone care to laugh now?"

No but thanks to Windows98 there are times I want to throw something. What a piece of crap Windows98 is. I guess that's just one advantage of running a monopoly.

PC Free Announces Details of Its Computer Systems; High-End Computer Systems At a Low Monthly Cost Separates PC Free From Other Suppliers

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 9, 1999--PC Free, a New Hampshire company ready to turn the PC and the Internet on its head, today announced the details of the computer system it will begin offering consumers this summer.

According to David L. Booth, Chairman and CEO of PC Free, their computers "will be top-of-the-line, equipped with an Intel Pentium III 450mhz chip, 64MB memory, DVD-ROM, 17" monitor, 8.4GB HD, 3-piece amplified speakers with sub woofer, TV tuner card, metering enabled, Graphics card w/8MB RAM, v.90 56k modem, Smart Card adapter w/smart card, color printer and unlimited internet access all for only $39.99 a month, with no contract to sign.

"The difference between us and others who claim to offer low-cost or no-cost computers and internet access is that we will give our customers state-of-the-art equipment," Booth explained. "Our development team has brought together the technology necessary to bring the home computer, e-commerce, telephony and the internet to the next level. PC Free computers offer users the chance to sample software, buy on the Net, play games and only pay for what they actually use. What's more, each system will be delivered by a technician who will set it up and show the user how to operate his or her equipment"

The computers will be manufactured by one of the largest ISO 9002 American computing systems manufacturers. The ISO 9002 standard represents an international consensus that a company can time and time again deliver the product or services that meet the client's quality control.

The company will begin rolling out the program on a market-by-market basis, starting this summer, through its national advertising agency, The Mesa Group, located in New York City.

About PC Free: PC Free, a privately held corporation located in Antrim, New Hampshire, is a strategic bundler of hardware, software, internet, telephony, and e-commerce into computer systems which include metering for "rent-to-own" digital content and broadcast material, in place of the common client/server models.

Amy, RE:

Now the mission is, "an Internet device anywhere you are."

Anyone care to laugh now?

I'm laughing, not because the projection won't come true, but because those anywhere 'Net devices most probably won't be running on a MSFT OS.
