Or a wearable computer ... XYBR ... ;-)

These wearable computers can already run Net2Phone and have great audio, video, etc. PCMCIA slots for wireless connectivity ... as the price comes down ... ;-)

Blank,

First, change your moniker to "open mind", just for a second.

Can you imagine having to take out and setup all your equipment, just to make a call?

It takes about 3 seconds to set up a handheld PC on the road. I'm sorry, I am exaggerating. Make that 5 seconds.

Image that you are away from home and hooked up to the Internet paging through e-mail, reading and posting on SI, whatever...

...wouldn't it be nice to be able to just click on Net-2-Phone WinCE rather than logging off, dialing in a 10 or 14 digit phone card number or a "patented" pin number from your IDTC calling card, making a call and then having to relog on with your mobile PC? I am trying to suggest there may be a niche market for a WinCE cousin to N2P, not that it is going to re-write IDTC's business plan. Give me a break.

I have a Mindspring account as a mobile ISP provider because AOL is too lazy to offer a WinCE compatible browser. If IDTC can move its Net-2-Phone software off of a desktop-based Windows platform it may reverse the general trend of cramming full-service mobile computing functionality into something as ridiculously small as a cell phone or hybrid device.

The idea of these devices is to be thin and easy. Now with headphones, flashcard, and before you know it, i would rather just purchase a micro-laptop.

The handheld/palmtop/Palm Pilot market will compete with laptops. Full-fledged "micro-laptops" are considerably more expensive at the present time. Also, "thin and easy" is a good description for the handheld WinCE devices, even with a headset. I mean, how else are you going to listen to your mp3 collection on the plane ride out?

Now OT...

I like the product line and the three-pronged business approach that IDTC has developed. I remain somewhat ambivalent about the N2P technology as it currently stands. I have tried, but don't use Net-2-Phone on my home PC because the reception is crappy, there is an annoying delay with frequent crackles and my long distance company offers rates competitive with Net-2-Phone for long distance on weekends. Nonetheless, I remain optimistic about the possibilities for N2P. I hope they are able to leverage the technology and explore other options such as the expanding WinCE market.
