Smart Car Gets Even Smarter
STUTTGART, Germany, June 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Xybernaut Corporation (Nasdaq: XYBR) the leader in the wearable computer industry, and the smart Center in Stuttgart, Germany, today unveiled DaimlerChrysler's newest entry into the market for urban vehicles called "the smart" with an integrated and docked Xybernaut Mobile Assistant(R) IV (MA IV(TM)), wearable computer system. The integrated package allows an individual to use the same MA IV system as a wearable computer away from the car or docked in the car as an integrated communications center, global positioning system and computing platform.

For the first time, a car owner can use his voice or Xybernaut's color touch screen to perform all of the standard office functions like dictating letters, viewing or sending email messages, getting location data and directions to his destination, or accessing his vehicle's maintenance history. Anything a customer wants to do in the way of conventional high-power computing in a standard Windows environment can now be accomplished in 'the smart' with this new feature."

The MA IV(TM) is now available and being shipped to end users worldwide. It is a full-function Pentium 233 MHz belt-worn computer, with up to 128 MB of SDRAM, a 4.3 GB hard drive, two PC card slots, a color VGA head-mounted display suspended in front of either eye with microphone and earphone or an optional wrist-mounted VGA flat panel touch screen color display, a miniature keyboard, a battery pack, and integrated voice-recognition software. S. base pricing below $5,000, wearable PCs are now attractive to those organizations seeking to take advantage of the increased productivity of wearable PCs compared with other computing platforms, and for many applications where computers have never been used before.
