Slower Subscriber growth for AOL according to Merrill Lynch

Merrill Lynch announced this morning that subscriber growth for AOL is in the lower end of expectations. Apparently, AOL had expected growth of about 750,000 - 850,000 for this quarter. Actual growth may be at the low end of this range according to indications from management. According to my ML broker, other brokerage houses have subscriber growth of more than 1 million. Growth in the US is stronger than expected. International growth was slower than anticipated partly due to the success of the free-web access services which are especially popular in the UK.

Merrill concludes by saying that we remain comfortable with our estimates but do not see any near term catalysts for AOL's stock
