I agree Fred, it will be a surprise if it is NIMH, but I just remembered something from my conversation with the ERC guy. He said that they tested the NIMH battery from Ovonic and it did not pass all of their tests so they began running tests on nickel zinc which have so far passed all the tests. What tests would NIMH have failed, and why buy a license and then begin testing the battery. I even asked him "I thought they were not succesful in making a NIMH battery" and he responded "no, they just did not pass all their tests". I guess a possible explanation is that he was a marketing guy who had just come over from Saft.

1500mAh is pretty good Fred.

Harding boosts NiMHs, adds fast charger

Norton Shores, Mich. - Harding Energy's Quest Gold nickel-metal hydride (NiMH) batteries handle power requirements for high-demand, high-drain portable products such as digital cameras. The 1,500-mAh rechargeable AA batteries are said to represent a 20 percent improvement over the previous Quest offering.
The company also introduced an eight-hour Smart Charger that will charge four AA or AAA Quest NiMH batteries twice as fast as previous charger models. The suggested retail price for a four-pack of Quest Gold batteries is $24.99 for the pack alone, $34.99 with a 16-hour, overnight charger and $39.99 with the Smart Charger.
