Wind River is better than RadiSys.

Jerry Fiddler and Ron Ablemann regularly place themselves on high profile media such as CNBC and major magazines such as Wired, Forbes, Fortune, and MSN Investor. Many links and quotes to these have been placed on this thread. It's absurd to think that the price of the stock is lower today because of poor PR.

The stock has moved down because investors had unrealistic expectations of the performance of the company. These guys aren't supermen who can grow at a torrid rate indefinitely and Ron Ablemann has been telling the truth at the conference calls each quarter when he says that it will be more difficult to grow now than when the company was smaller. The market is simply assigning a valuation that better reflects future prospects. Even after the drop, Wind River stock is still selling for 30x earnings and 5x book value, compared to 3x book value and 23x earnings for RadiSys.

Clearly, Wind River deserves an award for outstanding PR. Their reward came in the form of large capital infusions from the 1996 secondary offering and the 1997 convertible bond, thus insuring that the company will be around for a long time. Microsoft won't be able to walk into an empty field and harvest the fruit alone this time.
