Lorien from GASource sends this along, since his site appears to be down, regarding The Register's report that S3 may be taken over by 3dfx (see story): I just got off the phone with Paul Crossley, the PR Manager at S3, Inc. who said the following: The register has probably better sources than he does, as he is not aware of such an acquisition/takeover. If you have been following the news in the past year, you must have noticed that is has been rumored that S3 was acquired by AMD, Intel and many others. All rumors - nothing more.
