darrell..."reality check"...let's deal in the real world i am an innovator (dell), but my innovation is in how i assemble and bring to market in a very efficient fashion the product i produce. i depend on others for research,development,product quality and just in time delivery. if my down stream sources falter, i fall. if there is a market that is growing, whether i take market share or not, the market exists for i did not create this market, whether i have 100% or 50%, my down stream suppliers will still provide to me or whoever else shares my market the components for the market in total as in the case of intc and msft. no semantics, just reality from one who has operated a similar process model long before "direct from dell" was published..i've partnered with the japanese heavy indsustries for twenty years and i know the pitfalls better than most...you become very "beholding" to your sources...you don't own them, they own you....
