I'm beginning to wonder what kind of remainder of year we are going to have. The first 4 mos of 1999 were great but I really expected a better June. THe latter part of this year might get hit with y2k. Could be a bad 6 mos, I hope not though.

Glenn,

It is ok, you don't have to apologize to me. I would like it if you stopped getting that Borders' catalog, though.

Please feel free to take a tour of our website soon, and use the enclosed $25 coupon to apply to any purchase you make. I am sure you will find the shopping experience at Amazon to be superior to other web e-tailers. Try to keep in mind that we at Amazon admit that we will know much, much more about e-tailing as every month passes. If you have had a bad experience before, we apologize. We promise to get better and better.

As far as our stock price, we try to pay as little attention to it as possible, although others constantly remind us. You will note that we have stated that we will not be profitable any time soon, and in fact, expect our losses to accelerate. I have stated no one should buy our stock as a speculation. Let the buyer beware. We are trying to expand our business, not our stock price. We believe the stock will take care of itself.

Wishing you success in your own business and investments,

Jeff Bezos
