KZ, re<problems with Direct Rambus is "cache trashing">
This sounds like a BS. The term "cache trashing"
is usually attributed to cache itself, and is
related to it's level of associativity, replacement
policy and such.
It has very little to do with main memory except
that the performance degradation is proportional
to how slow that memory is. One of possible meanings
of that remark could be that the Rambus is not very
effective in handling the random memory traffic
resulted from that "cache trashing" activity
(otherwise normal and usually unavoidable on certain
large workloads).
