I agree. Gold seems to be a very bad investment (IMHO).

The interesting thing about gold is that the gold stocks are holding up extremely well even as the yellow makes new lows. The XAU (gold stock index) rose a few percent today to around 62. This is far above its September 1998 low of 48 even though gold bullion is quite a bit cheaper now than it was then. Looks to me like the entire gold complex is about to rally sharply in the near future. But whether this will have any more staying power than previous rallies is a moot point.
