Compaq Web Advisory: Compaq Extends
Ongoing Commitment To Standardized
Electronic Commerce Processes

Compaq Targets February 2, 2000, Implementation Date; Participates in
E-Commerce Event

HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 10, 1999-- Compaq Computer Corporation today announced its
plans to participate fully in a partner-to-partner initiative based upon standardized E-Commerce business
processes established by RosettaNet.

At a press event today in Menlo Park, Calif., Compaq joined RosettaNet leaders and executives from
participating member companies to address RosettaNet's current efforts in E-Commerce standardization
and affirm an organization-wide commitment to pilot program readiness by February 2, 2000.

RosettaNet, a non-profit organization charged with aligning e-business interfaces between IT supply
chain partners, has coined this initial RosettaNet implementation effort eConcert. The eConcert
implementation, which will include standard practices and procedures for conducting e-business, will
begin between participating RosettaNet companies.

Through its participation in RosettaNet, Compaq expects to improve data flow with its supply chain
partners by utilizing the common process definitions currently in development through RosettaNet
efforts. Compaq has actively participated in the ongoing development process of these standardized
E-Commerce procedures and will continue to take an active role in these steps. RosettaNet, which was
founded in 1998 as an independent, self-funded, non-profit consortium, is dedicated to the development
and deployment of standard electronic commerce interfaces to align the processes between IT supply
chain partners on a global basis. RosettaNet can be found on the World Wide Web at
rosettanet.org.
