RTev, You might be right in your comments on Jackson asking those questions of the witness.
My feeling is that he is trying to strengthen his eventual ruling against the company. Of course if he actually includes this in his decision, he would be in big trouble in appeals. By that I mean, the case must be weak in trying to prove consumer harm and that probably won't hold up in appeals.
MSFT also did a pretty good job with the IBM witness, who was also there to prove the harm to consumers.

If these two witnesses is all the government has---they got problems at least in this part of their case.
I doubt the MSFT witnesses will help the DOJ in that regard.
