Someone told me the news about the offer from BellSouth today as I was pulling out of town for business, so I'm just now getting a chance to view the forum.

Several surprises:

1) That there weren't more posts here talking about the news. I thought there would be 50 posts about the BellSouth news by now. Is everyone in shock or just taking this in stride?

2) If it WAS good news, QWST sure didn't exactly make a big jump in the positive direction, reflecting investors' sentiments. Isn't the price of stock of the company being bought out supposed to go up, if it's good news?

One thing of note: If BellSouth GETS the OK to buy Qwest in a year or so, what IF the price of QWST is MUCH HIGHER then? Once the network is completed, profits should come and the price should go up. Are they still going to be willing to make the purchase? Or, as some have suggested, will Qwest be the one doing the taking over?

It's a LONG time in the future for this deal to work out.

Just my .02 worth.
