Re: "1. Higher MHz -- apparently the 500 MHz K6-III uses a tweaked design with a 2.2v core. If there's no 500 MHz K6-2, it will sell. If they can hit 550 MHz before Intel hits 600 on the PeeIII, it will sell very well."

They can announce it but they can't sell it if they can't make it.

Re: "2. Tweaked drivers -- the few systems that were tested in magazines were benchmarked with poor video card drivers, leading to the conclusion that a PeeIII system was better for gaming and graphics. New TNT and TNT2 drivers now make the K6-III equivalent in gaming to the PeeIII."

But the SSE foils look better than the 3DNow foils. Are you suggesting that better foils might not translate into better performance?

John Im glad to see someone finaly point out the importance of using the correct video driver to gage the real performance potential of an AMD chips its obivous the early testors were brain dead on the proper sleection of the the correct video driver.Do some video work on our end have showed us night and day differences when different drivers are used. There is nothing wrong with AMD chips. Slmae problems with video drivers apply to Intel products.

Petz - RE: "apparently the 500 MHz K6-III uses a tweaked design with a 2.2v core"

The first sign of the 500MHz K6-III's voltage is at Pricewatch - Tufshop says 2.2 volts, and the entry was updated today.

I'll call tomorrow to verify.
