I would assume
that, in the spirit of collegiality, posts from that thread will be considered off limits for
citing, or should I say, dissecting, on this thread;

Not a chance. Indeed, it will be particularly gratifying to find posts from that thread to dissect here.

BTW, why are we so fixated on "lab"? Why not simply "Grammar, spelling, and style," or if we need some closure to the phrase, "Grammar, spelling, and style thread"?

BTW(2), in our discussion of placement of punctuation, I don't recall our discussing question marks. Periods and commas, we agreed (with Joan capitulating somewhat less gracefully than Milosovic has), always go inside, semicolons and colons go outside, and parentheses are placed depending on the context. But what about question marks? In the paragraph above I put them outside the quotation marks. But I'm not going to defend that assiduously if there is a compelling reason to confess error.

E, my call to arms was misunderstood. It was 1) a joke, and 2) a silly attempt to galvanize this thread. We had gotten lazy. You know, zzzzzzzzzz lazy. In my opinion, of course. <g>

As for Free Beer, I am assuming you read my objection to its inclusion in the thread title. In case you did not, let me excerpt it again, from my post to TLC on the subject:

The trick is to fix the title & the intro without destroying continuity. Any suggestions?

You are inventive enough, TLC, to think of one without Free Beer in the title. There already is a Beer thread, and that would lead to confusion. Besides, it might attract drunks.

Uh...whaZ this? Grummer 'n sp-sp-spewin'? How many beers I get fer one spew? Hahahahahaha....retch...Scuse me, lady....Braaah..

My objection still stands. Harrumph. But I like Christopher's suggestion. So it's on to that one.
