I think that we have had enough warning that retail sales numbers are going to skyrocket. An example of the resulting stock movement would be Circuit City...just shot up 20 points or 30% faster than you can say "Cover!!"

I'm no economist either, but it is also a sure bet that as the consumers continue to get hammered on their internet stocks, the end result will be falling retail sales. My best guess is that this is either the last or second to last quarter of strong retail sales if the trend of declining internet stocks continues.

Overly simplistic and obvious? You Betcha.
