Tom, The Duke of Maver? LOL. But, I can't let it stand, as Maverick was, of course, a Texas cattleman in the wild west. He built his herd by providing a home for those cattle that "wandered off" of other folks' ranges and those types of cattle took his name. So, Whittington definitely fits the term, maverick, if you are talking about a lost and confused bovine. <g>

And, in the famous words of Bret Maverick, a totally fictional character played by James Garner (Mel Gibson did it, too, but that was different), "the name is Maverick. And spell that with one 'ick.'" <g>
