I do watch programs that have sponsors but not advertising
Sponsors? A sponsor is someone who gives money in exchange for having their name mentioned one or two times during the show.
That is advertising, just a rather low key form of it.

Public television stations may not bombard you every day with advertising, but wait till its time for a donation drive. You see the names of plenty of businesses on the screen in exchange for something. In addition these stations rely on tax dollars. Do you want CNN relying on tax dollars too?

Darleen:
Please explain the difference of a " sponsor but not advertising" If the program or movie is sponsored by Ford delivered with no interruption, this is not advertisement to you. I'm confused.
