I am asserting that a company like 3COM should have its act together by now in processing rebates. They approved my rebate 30 days ago. It's the rebate checks that aren't getting cut on time (7 to 8 weeks late). The official company line is they can't print the rebate checks fast enough. This is absolutely absurd. They aren't fooling anyone. With today's high speed laser printers attached to a mainframe, they could print those checks in a matter of hours. (I know this from being a systems analyst for a Fortune 6 company.)

Given the huge volume of rebate checks, 3COM no doubt is trying to spread the payment of many of these checks (120,000+) into next quarter. IMHO, this will make their consumer side of the business look better than it really is.

Am I to naively believe that a large established company like 3COM that has been processing rebates for YEARS, had a little "slip up" this quarter? A quarter in which price competition has become brutal and at a time their stock price is suffering?
