On "The Lab" and "Feelies"

Graystone makes an interesting point, folks.

This really is the Lab, ask anyone.

Now, think about it. Is there a worse, less inviting thread title on the face of SI than: "Let's Talk About Our Feelings!!!"???

For the longest time, I refused to post there (even though I lurked), because I had not the slightest interest in "talking about my Feelings," let alone about "Feelings" followed by three exclamation points!!!

Even after I saw that much of the time people were talking about ideas more than about Feelings!!!, and hence allowed myself to get sucked in, I still winced every time I opened up my own profile, and saw that long list of bold-faced Let's Talk About Our Feelings!!! posts on it...The thought that ran and still runs through my head was: "Will the people who see this think I have a brain of mush???"

Yet the title of that thread cannot be changed. It is known, universally and affectionately, as "Feelies."

"Feelies" it will be, and will ever be.

This thread is nowhere near as popular as "Feelies," but to those who do know it, it is still "The Lab," and may ever be so.

Something to think upon.
