Lawrence,

Many thanks for the QNTM price "heads-up". It is very telling and I have to wonder at their previous gambit. This is an endurance race, for sure. You have rightfully pointed to the true "tell" in this poker game. The balance sheet is sine qua non.

Thanks for the Greenspan speech. His words are moving as they should be in a commencement address. I agree with Sam that you may be reaching to read into his speech a dig at Clinton though suspect it is perfectly natural to assume so. <G>

An OT aside: Is Richard Rosenbloom still a colleague? What has he published lately?
Best,
Stitch

<<After two failed attempts at price signaling through price increases, Quantum, the
Saudi Arabia of desktop drives, has been slashing prices aggressively. Not only that,
they have recently flooded the channel. >>
Not to mention the talk on the conference call that they had slashed production and thought all players would act responsibly. Didn't they learn anything from the last two years! Its a battle to the death of one or more particpants. Foolish to forego any business which yields incremental profit and speeds the demise of the competition. -Z
