Thread: I would have guessed that while PFE was trading 50% higher than it is now, we would have seen a few aquisitions go off--for a while a number of biotech enthusiasts here on SI have thought it was only a matter of time before big pharma, with inflated stocks, went cherry picking. And yet the deals have been slow to develop--it is almost as if management at these multi billion dollar pharmacutical companies is blind to the incredible values in small cap biotech companies. Or they prefer to try and squash the little R&D platform companies just for kicks. Does anybody on the thread have opinion on this particular issue: I have 1000 shares of a company called Sibia Neurosciences, perhaps you've heard of it? I did a keyword search here and nothing came up, odd. SIBIA Neurosciences, Inc. Announces Filing of Counterclaim Against Pfizer Inc. for Patent Infringementbiz.yahoo.com then read thisMessage 9519105 But I guess the lawyers really run the show... Okay, part two of tonight's post: Anybody know if this place is occupied yet?--The Pfizer Cambridge Discovery Technology Center, here is a photo:shooshanian.com Just curious, Cambridge is certainly a real hot spot for biotechnology. It's been a little disappointing to see the big pharma companies stocks melt down...I had always hoped a little bit of that money would slosh into the biotechs, what a shame so few deals went off as things were peaking out. The internuts did a lot better with this--you have to do the deals when you have all that extra fluff in the marketcap right? Does Pfizer really have a billion shares outstanding, that just blows my mind, a 100 Billion dollar company, and that's after 50B evaporated. Well, starting to ramble: I guess I have one other question for you folks--are good things coming out which will be better than the SSRI Zoloft, I have heard of a few interesting things--sibutramine, I think that one if from Sepracor (BASF's Meridia), obviously Prozac II could be interesting, but that is a few years away as well. Anyway, I am mainly just rooting around looking for whatever the latest is for OCD, but never really come up with much. I guess when you go to the Pfizer website and see that couple walking lovingly on the beach because that male oldster can get it up, well, I know what sells. Meanwhile, new drugs for serious mental conditions seem not to get much attention. Anyway, if anybody has knows of any anecdotal miracles with using drugs to treat OCD, feel free to PM me, I'd rather not go into the specifics on this public thread, but let me just say that I am not impressed with Prozac.
