Bob,

Much was made about the EMC single point(s) of failure. All channel interfaces
and device interfaces are singly connected to one of two internal buses (Hitachi
duplexes all bus connections). The EMC has a single write cache (Hitachi
duplexes the write cache). Hitachi uses dual ported disk drives, EMC single
ports. HP indicates these single points of failure prevent EMC from achieving
"59" initiative, 99.95% uptime. In reality I believe the units are equal in
reliability.

Thanks for sharing your notes on the HP storage presentation. If it's true what HP is saying about the single points of failure present in EMC's design, how is it you believe the units are equal in reliability?

Thanks,

Tony
