DLL :))))
I COULD NOT POSSIBLY HAVE SAID IT BETTER.
What an excellent post.
You are right about truth. It and HE will never change, no matter what we say, do, or believe.
I would love to hear your conversion story, anytime you feel like sharing it and have the time.
God bless you and yours,
Patsy Walton

Don,

I am sorry, but I have to disagree with you.

<< "if it works for you" is intellectually dishonest and a denial of the existence of truth. >>

Truth may be truth, as you say, but you have no idea how encompassing that truth may be. Can the truth be that there is one God, with different ways of looking/relating to him/her? Perhaps all religions contain some seed of truth and some unintentional misrepresentations?

In your post, you admit that there is a possibility that you are wrong(although I understand that you vehemently believe yourself to be right)

"if it works for you" is no more or les than saying that someone may have found something that adds value to their life. It is being open to seeing that someone with a belief different than yours and understanding that it may have some merit. It is being humble enough to admit that we don't have all the answers, but like most circumstances there may be moe than one way to arrive at the same destination.

It is hardly a copout. In fact, IMO, it is the most intellectually honest position. without being open to different possibilities, there is no room to grow, no room to examine things from a different perspective. Without being open, you are prone to becoming dogmatic.
Without the concept of looking at something and keeping the possibility of "maybe" open, you can become static and rigid.

But if your mind set works for you........ :-)
