The April CPI #s were phenomenally strong and May has not matched those #s, but this is still very robust growth we are talking about. Nobody is saying inflation is rampant, just that it is worrisome. This economy has had robust growth when yields were at 8%. Slowdowns come gradually. I don't think 6% yields have put out any fires. Greenspan's big recent point is that capital gains realized from stocks and real estate are a big factor fueling the fires. The housing #s a couple weeks ago showed fierce demand. If there is any slowing right now(which I doubt), it won't become evident until the July #s at the earliest. However, all the weekly #s will give some warnings.
