I think you are a bit confused on this point, penni. (Does "a bit confused" actually sound even worse than "wrong"? Hmmm..)

You are taller than I.

Comparatives are ALWAYS followed by "than", which in this case is functioning as a subordinating conjunction, not as a preposition. That becomes clearer when you expand the elliptical sentence above to its "proper" full length:

You are taller than I am.

"You are taller than me" is so common that it is likely to eventually displace the correct alternative -- "you are taller than I" -- but it will not be because "me" is following a preposition.
