The rumor that Oracle will announce 8i running on Mac hardware at MW has been drifting about for a little while now. It's entirely possible that that is the case. However, it would be targeted at small to medium size businesses. Apple currently has no hardware suitable for large scale enterprise apps. Apple management stated at the stockholders meeting that trying to break into enterprise computing is a poor use of their resources considering the large differences in scalability of Mac vs unix or NT hardware. On the other hand Apple has launched a program to target small and medium size businesses, so 8i is a good fit for that use. Lastly, hopefully you realize that 8i is already running on NT and Unix machines. It's also used in the Business On-Line venture which is Oracle's branded outsourced database, erp and ecommerce service using machines bundled with a front-end and connection to Oracle whereby Oracle manages all of the IT functions for small and medium size businesses from a remote location. Presently Oracle has contracted with Dell and I believe HWP to make those machines which are delivered and simply plugged in at the business. It's conceivable Oracle and Apple could announce a version of Business On-Line that runs on Apple hardware. Rich
