I don't see how the carry trade can currently exact the same beating it dished out last fall - the yen has not had the same violent moves to indicate that a large player has succumbed.

Possibly but it depends on what is on the other side of the trade. Part of therumour is that the other leg was US govts and those have taken a beating.

Anyway in all likliehood it is just a rumour and their will be very little fire underlying this smoke.
