Done Some Further Digging...

The Channelware NetActive technology does enable secure distribution of software and content.

This is a venture of Nortel.

Apparently, I just happened to stumble upon one of the participating Blockbuster locations.

There will be a NetActive.com site that, I suspect, will be something along the lines of what Wave Direct will be offering.

Now, all of that said, I'm not necessarily concerned about this offering. I just find it interesting.

I should not be surprised to find that others are entering into this secure content distribution space. Plus, viewed one way, it's good news that the likes of Nortel and others are in essence legitimizing
this "try before you buy--pay as you go" model.

NetActive does plan to be offering software and games via distribution in cereal boxes. This is the classic AOL approach... mass disks for the people.

FWIW,

At The Risk Of Gilding This Particular Lily...

Here's a recent press release about the NetActive/Blockbuster trial. As of this posting I promise to stop talking about these folks. And, should this be necessary, I hasten to point out that I remain a very strong long WAVX loyalist.

And, Lord knows, if all of this is old news to the super-vetters on both threads, my sincerest apologies.
