Industrial Ecosystems, Inc. Commences a Soil Remediation Demonstration for the
U.S. Department of Defense

Business Editors/Environment Writers

PACIFICA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 24, 1999--Industrial
Ecosystems, Inc. (OTC BB:IECS) announced that it commenced last week a
bio-remediation demonstration for the U.S. Department of Defense at
the U.S. Navy's Pointe Molate Fuel Depot in Richmond, Calif.

The demonstration is being sponsored by the Bay Area Defense
Conversion Action Team (BADCAT), a public private partnership of the
Bay Area Economic Forum (BAEF), the Bay Area Regional Technology
Alliance (BARTA), the California Environmental Protection Agency (CAL
EPA), Chevron Research and Technology Company, Engineering Field
Activity West, Naval Facilities Engineering Command (EFA West), Naval
Facilities Engineering Service Center (NFESC), San Francisco State
University Center for Public Environmental Oversight (CPEO) and the
U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA).

The primary objective of the demonstration is to reduce current
total petroleum hydrocarbon levels of approximately 50,000 parts per
million to a level of under 1,000 parts per million within the five
months.

Tom Jarnagin, the company's president, stated, "We are excited
about the opportunity that BADCAT and the U.S. Navy has given us to
establish the technical, economic and environmental efficacy of the
our bio-conversion process." The company's proprietary bio-conversion
process incorporates environmentally safe microbes that clean soil
that has been heavily contaminated with hydrocarbons.

The U.S. Navy, Tetra Tech, Inc. (Nasdaq:WATR) and others should
be able to fully evaluate the results of the demonstration by the
middle of the fourth quarter. Tetra Tech is responsible for
determining the nature and extent of contamination on many Military
bases throughout the United States and for recommending cleanup
methodologies, such as the company's.

Should the evaluation be favorable, given certain site
characteristics, the company's bio-conversion process could become an
acceptable alternative method for reducing hydrocarbon contamination
in soil on Military bases that have been targeted for hydrocarbon
remediation. Jarnagin went on to add, "Needless to say, we are
confident that our bio-conversion process will prove to be as
effective for the U.S. Navy as it has been for Amoco (British
Petroleum -- Amoco (NYSE:BPA)). Amoco has been a customer of the
company for over five years.
