I was sixt miles north of town and the lakes were ice free, although from the pilot he said they landed on the ice at snap lake a few days ago. It will be melting fast.
I understand that the Morel Mushroom pickers are getting set to go picking in some of the area burnt last year. Now there is a cash crop. Could probably make more picking mushrooms this year then prospecting. Probably a better chance at finding them as well.
With the politics and the rules and regualtions and the low POG and metal prices, not a lot of exploration in the north this year. Rumour floating around that Kennecot is trying to get out of all its projects except for Diavik.
Right now even if I found the motherlode, unless it was diamonds probably wouldn't be able to develop it, but the search is still fun.
I dont need no stinking land use permits to prospect, although I now apparently need an FAC for my bush gun.
I sure hope Snap is a success because we could sure use a few more mines up here.
