Tench,

Re:" However, I still doubt that Dirk Meyer needs to resort to Jerry-isms to tout the K7. It's not like AMD needs another bullet in the head, you know."

If they had wanted to look better they would have benchmarked against a PIII 550 with 1/2 speed cache and not the Xeons.

In addition they could have used a Viper K7 with full speed cache as well.

In addition they could have used a "server" K7 with much larger amounts of L2 cache say 2Mb and compared to the Xeon with 2Mb cache.

In fact they took the conservative approach: they took their new desktop chip and benchmarked it with Intels server chip and still blew it away.

Regards,

Kash

Ten - Re: "It's not like AMD needs another bullet in the head, you know"

AMD tries to shoot themselves in the foot - they just can't shoot straight - and end up with BLOOD/MONEY gushing out of their HEAD(quarters).
