CMGI is a stock that has a lot of day to day volatility driven by daytraders. Most of these traders keyed off the earnings report today and drove the stock down. However two respected internet analysts provided reports today on CMGI that once it reaches these traders should provide upward momentum to the stock price.
Both analysts,Paul Noglows of Hambrecht & Quist and Keith Benjamin of Robbie Stephens reiterated buys of CMGI (at the 101 1/2 price) and stated that CMGIs stock price is a function of its assets value not its revenues or earnings.

Noglows valuation summary---"CMGIs fully diluted investment stakes in public holdings such as Lycos,Yahoo, etc. is roughly $1.4 billion. We estimate the companys top 17 private investments could realize a valuation (through sales or IPOs) of $11 billion. Together these indicate a stock price of $135 a share. However our net asset valuation approach does not value the other 27 companies in CMGIs portfolio, nor does it take into account additional investments CMGI will make going forward."

Keith Benjamins valuation summary---"We estimate CMGIs CONSERVATIVE asset value is $38. This includes almost every company in the portfolio and values most of the private companies at approximately the valuation on the last round of funding. Our OPTIMISTIC estimate assumes that nearly every company in the portfolio goes public and trades up to a very successful valuation in the near term. This asset value is $150 a share. With the stock price now comfortably in our range of estimates (38 to 150) we are more enthusiastic, especially as we are able to gain to gain visibility on short term catalysts such as large investments or acquisitions.

Both of these stock valuations were being compared very favorably to a stock price of $101 1/2 which makes $89 3/4 a major bargain. Once these analysts reports gain visibility this weekend traders will be aggressively buying CMGI again. And with the daytrader momentum of this stock it can gain back $10+ a share in one day.
