Scared, I don't think this has anything to do with IP...

When Creative licensed glide they signed an agreement not to use glide for non-3dfx products. It's that simple. It doesn't matter who owns what. It's a matter of Creative upholding the contract. Both Creative and Diamond helped in actual development of Voodoo2 so I suppose there's a bunch of paperwork 3dfx had them sign to ensure they would do exactly this.

Of course its okay for someone to create a glide compatible device as long as they don't use the glide sdk. This doesn't change the fact that creative agreed not to do it.
