On an even bigger scale, Sun Microsystem rose to greatness by embracing the open standards and sharing (i.e. keeping open) all of its technology be it HW or SW. You'd hardly hear anything against them either (MSFT [and OSF in the old days] excluded). If 3dfx really wants to see Glide survive, they should license it to everyone on easy terms. Otherwise, soon there may be very little incentive for developers to support Glide. ST P.S. Piranha, didn't I say don't tempt fate by those orders? See what you've done now <G>
