Dave, Thread,

Tom Henderson, a friend of mine, and an editor at Network Magazine (nee LAN Mag), attended Supercom and sent me this candid but brief, although somewhat humorous, review. I asked him what, if anything, knocked his socks off, after he had given me a less than stellar review of the optical "toys" that were on display. Here's what he had to say:

What else de-socked me?

The era of the fat pipe is here. Viz:

-Wireless broadband a la Ericsson (fresh from BellS deal)
-DSL is alive and well and G.Lite is kicking
-Access systems are getting easier for the data-disabled to understand
-The success of the INternet domestically has not been lost on the int'l carriers
-VoIP is a holy grail; 802.1p and Diff-Serv are going to be the place to go
-LMDS is in secret trials for electric utilities
-Atlanta needs a bath.

Hi Dave,

I do enjoy a good back alley as well as a cleverly crafted trap door.
I got a chuckle when trying to explore the Sun site via a back door. Up popped the cartoon character 'Pecos Pete' and he shot me dead with a blast of bits. The caption read, "Sorry, pardner, you do not have access rights to this door. Don't even think about it." I'm sure Jim Gosling took particular pleasure in that use for his Java language.

I just tried to use the street.com site, following your URL suggestion. Didn't work for me. the "_yahoo" was redirected to "yb"
and I got the member logon page. Win some lose some.

Best, Ry
