Bruce, I think I saw a show the other night that the host was interviewing the guy that stood in front of the tank, and he said he served some time in prison and now has a family and must make a living and is now a real estate agent( or the equivilent of what ever that would look like in China.)

Bruce,
I certainly can't say that you are wrong. I have no idea what would have happened in different circumstances, and it is a fact that sometime a pacifist gets crushed under the more aggressive nature of
violent people.

It is a fact that sometimes a pacifist doesn't get crushed also. I also think that the greater the number of people in pacifist resistance, the harder it is to crush to them. what you have to remember is that soldier or a cop or whoever is also a human being. regrdless of their beliefs or if they have been fed propoganda or whatever, they are at their core, human.

Most human beings don't hold a strong conviction on any issue that would allow them to personally kill very large numbers of people. especially if it is their own people.

There are of course exceptions to that. It happens in war, and some people would count abortion within that issue(although personally I don't)
