BEIJING- China launched two telecommunications satellites into orbit with a single Long March 2C Rocket on Saturday, Xinhua news agency reported.
The satellites, joining in the existing global Iridium satellite telecommunications network developed by Motorola Inc, were launched from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center in northern Shanxi province at 1:15 a.m. (1715 GMT), Xinhua said.
This marked the 15th consecutive successful launch by the Long March rocket series since October 1996, it said.
"This proves the carrier rockets independently developed by China are reliable and the country's space launch and control technologies are now more sophisticated and mature," it said.
Last month, China said it launched a weather and a scientific research satellite with a single Long March 4B Rocket.
