Do you mind if I ask a few dumb questions about Psalms 19?Psalms 19:1 The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament showeth his handiwork. This verse if pretty well known. The idea is that the universe testifies to the existence of a creator. The heavens are the sky overhead and everything else up there right? So is the firmanent the earth beneath our feet? Wouldn't it be better if modern translations used a better word than firmanent?2 Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night showeth knowledge. 3 There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard. 4 Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them hath he set a tabernacle for the sun, The speech and voice and words mentioned above are the testimony of the heavens, I suppose. And the use of speech/voice/words is metaphorical. The heavens testimony isn't in the actual form of speech but comes from our observation. But what is "their line" which goes through all the earth? And what and where is the tabernacle for the sun?5 Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, and rejoiceth as a strong man to run a race. 6 His going forth is from the end of the heaven, and his circuit unto the ends of it: and there is nothing hid from the heat thereof. And the thing like a bridegroom, which rejoices, and goes forth, and makes a circuit, and has heat, is the simply the sun not God. Guess I understand what these verses are talking about. Ok, my dumb questions are 1) am I wrong to think the firmanent is the earth?, and what is the 2) line?, and the 3) tabernacle for the sun? Thanks, Bruce
